In a coming together of two icons from two different generations singers, Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato debuted their duet single Fall in Line that released last week at the Billboard Music Awards on Saturday.  A single from Aguilera's upcoming album Liberation due out on June 15, the song is a feminist anthem of sorts. The song that opens with the lines “Little girls, listen closely, 'Cause no one told me. But you deserve to know that in this world, you are not beholden. You do not owe them your body and your soul” is an empowering ballad about women reclaiming the right over their bodies and pursue their dreams and not fall in line with expectations of society.  Though written ahead of the #MeToo movement, the song perfectly fits the ideology against sexual harassment and assault and stands up for equality.

The third track on Aguilera’s album, the song is characterised by a low-end rumble and has a sparse beat throughout. The song also marks Christina Aguilera’s first collaboration with a female singer on a single since 2001. The singers who are known for their vocal abilities left the audience at the BBMAs visibly impressed. The two women ended the performance in an embrace.

On the release of the single, the singers took to Instagram to announce the collaboration
