How Lucknow-based musician Rahul Mishra's song Dil De Huzoora will transport you to the 90s

90s witnessed an era of some of India’s best independent artists and bands like Alisa Chinai, Junoon, Colonial Cousins, Lucky Ali and their unforgettable creations, while the 20th century did see a Bollywood wave taking over with singers like Arijit Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Goshal, Amit Trivedi and more.

But do we still not remember Made In India, Sayyoni, Sa Ni Dha Pa, O Sanam for their melodious and upbeat tune which is still very fresh in our head. With some of the biggest reality shows like Indian Idol, Stage, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, we have understood that today, content is extremely important and independent artists are on the rise. Some of the biggest music labels have curated a creative platform to support and promote these independent artists and their talent.

One such known music label, EMI Records has always been on the hunt for new talents and has given opportunities to some of the biggest names today like Rishi Rich, Rahul Mishra, Anushka Shahaney. Another music label which is known to deliver international music to Indian audience and release some of the biggest hits like the soundtrack of Bombay (1995), Khamoshi (1996), Devdas (2002) is Universal Music.

This time EMI Records and Mohit Suris music property VYRL Originals which aims at promoting independent artists have released a new single “Dil De Huzoora” by a talented Lucknow based musician Rahul Mishra. The video transports you back to the 90s era. The track has been composed & sung by Rahul, featuring lyrics by Kunaal Vermaa.

The track has a feel of earthy Indian melody blended with sufi rock flavour that evokes a feeling of nostalgia, reminiscent of the 90’s Indi pop era.

Speaking on the release, Vinit Thakkar, Senior Vice President, Universal Music Group India & South Asia and EMI Records India said, “Independent music in the 90’s revolutionized the music scene and created a niche in India. Rahul Mishra has trained in classical music and has contributed to ‘Tu Hi Hai’ from the Hindi blockbuster film Half Girlfriend. The artist has also worked on a Marathi film Manalatya Unhaat & released a song ‘Naina’ with VYRL Originals earlier this year, making his repertoire rich & diverse.

Talking about Dil De Huzoora, Rahul said “I’m elated to release my second single under VYRL Originals. Dil De Huzoora is the voice of heart filled with pain and disappointment & I hope it gets the same love my previous tracks have received”.

This is the fifth single from VYRL Originals sinceits inception. The previous tracks- Teri Yaad, Naina, Heer & Laal Bindi have received a phenomenal response in a short span of time.
