Bengaluru sees the grand finale of Carnatic music reality show, Sangeet Yaatra
World Music Conservatory in association with Sankara TV presents the second season of the biggest Carnatic music reality show, Sangeet Yaatra. The show is in aid of the Smile Charitable Trust, and aims to promote Carnatic music to the global audience. The finale, that has participants from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and even Australia, will take place in Bengaluru.
The journey of these participants began in April 2018 with the auditions. Live auditions were conducted in Bangalore & Chennai and we got online entries from all over India and other countries like USA, UK, Singapore and Australia. 50 contestants each in the three categories: Budding Stars, Junior and Senior, were selected for performing in various rounds. The first round was the Thyagarajaya Namaha Round, where the participants rendered different compositions of Sri Thyagaraja Swamy. The next was the Guruguha Paahimaam Round. Here the participants were expected to sing compositions of Sri Muthuswamy Dikshitar. Another round was the Vakra Sanchara Ragas Round. As the name itself suggests, the participants were supposed to render raagas that have Vakra Sanchara.
The jury consisted of Ganakalabhushana Smt Vasanthamadhavi, Ganakalabhushana Smt R A Ramamani, Ganakalabhushana Kalaimamani Dr Suma Sudhindra, Karnataka Ganakalashree and Layakala Prathibhamani Vidwan Sri Ananthakrishna Sharma.
The grand finale has seven top singers from the junior category and top ten singers from the senior category who will enthrall the live audience. Padmabhushan Sangita Kalanidhi Dr T V Gopalakrishnan will be gracing the occasion as the guest of honour.
The Smile Charitable Trust works actively in the domain of educational welfare and sanitation in economically backward rural schools. More than ten thousand students have benefitted from the various schemes undertaken.
