British band The Prodigy’s vocalist, Keith Flint, passes away

Band members confirm that the 49-year-old took his own life at his home in Essex

The Prodigy vocalist Keith Flint has been found dead at his home in Essex on Monday at the age of 49. The band released a statement, confirming the news, saying,  “It is with deepest shock and sadness that we can confirm the death of our brother and best friend Keith Flint. A true pioneer, innovator and legend. He will be forever missed. We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time.” 

The death appears to be a suicide, as the band’s founding member and keyboardist Liam Howlett posted on the band's official Instagram page,“The news is true , I can’t believe I’m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend , I’m shell shocked , f**kin angry , confused and heart broken ..... r.i.p brother Liam. (sic)”

The British electronic band from Braintree, Essex was formed in 1990 and Keith became an icon with his signature spiked hair and multiple piercings. The band is known for their songs Smack My Bitch Up, Breathe and Firestarter
