Legendary Irish rock band U2 makes its India debut this December
Irish rockers U2 are all set to play in India for the first time later this year as part of The Joshua Tree tour. The band, that was formed in 1976 in Dublin, consists of Bono (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), the Edge (lead guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals), Adam Clayton (bass guitar), and Larry Mullen Jr. (drums and percussion). Speaking to an Indian publication, frontman Bono said: "I hope it's good news (for fans in India). It certainly is good news for our band that we are coming to Mumbai on December the 15th. It's our first time in India and we are pretty excited."
With roots in a post-punk style, the band’s music often includes personal and sociopolitical themes. Some of their chart toppers are Without Without You, Where the Streets Have No Name, Bad, Sunday Bloody Sunday and One.
With 22 Grammys in their kitty, the band has several ambitious and elaborate tours to their name such as All That You Can't Leave Behind and Elevation Tour (1998–2002), How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb and Vertigo Tour (2003–2006), No Line on the Horizon and U2 360° Tour (2006–2011) and Songs of Innocence and Innocence + Experience Tour (2011–2015).
The upcoming tour will also mark their debut in South Korea, Singapore and the Philippines.
