Luke Kenny on setting new standards for digital content
One of the pioneering content creators in the country, this multi-faceted artiste believes in waiting for the right moment. Though he has remained choosy over the last decade, the one-time VJ’s upcoming projects, which include a film and a web series, indicate his return to the limelight in a grand manner.“More often than not, the projects have chosen me,” begins the Rock On 2 actor, as he comments on his unconventional acting career. However, Luke has never been the one to mince his words when it comes to Bollywood’s typecasting. “I look for projects which offer something more than the stereotyped angrez roles. As for Tanuja Chandra’s Kareeb Kareeb Single, it is a road trip film featuring Irrfan Khan and Malayali actress Parvati TK in lead roles. We’re currently in the post-production stage of it,” shares the 40-something actor.
Raising the bar
Luke’s association with the Bollywood’s best doesn’t end there though. His web series debut with Eros Now, centred around the drug trade in Goa, features a stellar cast including Kalki Koechlin. “From the perspective of a content creator, these are exciting times as digital platforms are free of any active censorship per se,” says the artiste, elaborating that Indian content makers should set the standards for themselves. The Mumbaikar—who helmed the feature film 13th Floor—also confirms that he will be back in the director’s chair soon. “I consider myself as a contributor working across platforms ranging from live performances to digital formats and films. At the moment, I am in the process of pitching ideas for both web series as well as feature films,” says Luke, signing off.
