Mariah Carey opens up about her struggle with bipolar disorder

The singer was first diagnosed with the condition in 2001 and added that she was living in complete isolation and in constant fear that someone would expose her to the people.

Popular singer and icon Mariah Carey on Wednesday spoke for the first time ever about her problems and struggles dealing with bipolar disorder and how she was living in denial at the start. 

The singer was first diagnosed with the condition in 2001 and added that she was living in complete isolation and in constant fear that someone would expose her to the people.

The Grammy award singer-songwriter said she finally decided it was too heavy a burden to carry and sought to get treated for it. She also surrounded herself with positive people and got back to singing and writing songs. 

Mariah Carey also said that since she has been taking medication it has been working effectively and she no more feels too tired or sluggish. The actor was previously working continuously and it would get her irritated and she would suddenly just hit a wall before depressive episodes took over. 

The actor who is in her late 40s has six-year-old twins from her ex-husband Nick Cannon and said she decided to talk about it because she was in a better place now and happy and could tell people about it.
