After Pakistani actress, three more women accuse Ali Zafar of sexual harassment
The #MeToo movement has hit Pakistan with full force, as three more women accuse Ali Zafar of sexual harassment, a day after Pakistani actress Meesha Shafi tweeted about it on Thursday. The three women who met Zafar on several occasions said they had the courage to speak about it only after Shafi's tweet.
Pakistani positivity blogger Humna Raza said that she had an experience with the singer-actor during a fan moment. The blogger attended an event where Ali Zafar was present and asked to click a selfie with him and the singer-actor obliged with open arms with she took as a yes, however she immediately felt his arms go up her waist and felt it and knew what happened. She only realised she had been harassed after she read Shafi’s tweet about him on Thursday.
Being among the first, Raza was supported by another Twitter user and friend of Ali Zafar, Leena Ghani said that Ali on many occasions has crossed the boundaries of what is appropriate behaviour between friends. She also went on to add that it disgusts her how Ali Zafar thought it was okay to say vulgar things and get away with it.
A Lahore University of Management Sciences alumnus, Maham Javaid took to Twitter to say that Zafar had actually tried to harass her cousin. She said that both of them even thought of reporting him but since he was a celebrity nobody would believe them. The list does not end there are another Twitter user Sofi spoke out against the actor and said that he had tried to misbehave with many girls in the US when he was there on a visit.
The number of complaints against the actor are a result of the tweet from Ameesha Shafi, who spoke about her experience with Ali Zafar. While she did not talk about the incident, she went on to say that by talking about her experiences she wants to break the culture of silence that permeates through society.
