Interestingly, he also went on to say that he had a wishlist in the filmmaking department and he got that too with Amit Trivedi and Irshad Kamil, among others.
Bollywood film Fanney Khan released on Friday and while there are mixed reviews about it, director Atul Manjrekar is happy about the final result and revealed a little more about it. The director said every single actor on his wishlist said yes to the film and has gone on to reveal that he could not have been more excited about his debut film.
According to media reports, Atul said that when he started writing the characters he had a wishlist in mind and directors design the characters accordingly. He went on to say that for him, it was not just a cast but a dream cast and all of them on his wishlist said yes to Fanney Khan. Interestingly, he also went on to say that he had a wishlist in the filmmaking department and he got that too with Amit Trivedi and Irshad Kamil, among others. He added that it was all heart in the right place and even Anil Kapoor and Bhushan Kumar wanted to be a part of the story.
In an interview with a leading publication, Atul revealed how his debut film came about and said Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and his wife PS Bharathi were looking for a director for their story when they saw his ad film. While it was PS Bharathi who saw it, the film was about the relationship between a father and a daughter and she immediately liked it and told Rakeysh about it. However, when she told him it was Atul, he was surprised, as they have worked with each other on Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Aks in 2001. The director said when Rakeysh and his wife offered him the film, he immediately said yes to it.
