Don’t compare Soorma to Sanju, can’t expect 22 crore film to earn 100 crores: Angad Bedi

Angad said Diljith and he are upcoming names in Bollywood, it is going to be difficult and since Sandeep Singh is not a name many people recognise, they have only taken notice now after the film.

Bollywood actor Angad Bedi is on a high after his marriage to fellow actor Neha Dhupia, and release of the Sandeep Singh biopic Soorma, where he plays his brother Bikramjeet Singh. However, while the film didn’t make it big at the box office, it did receive a lot of praise from film critics. In an interview, Angad said people shouldn’t expect a 22 crore film to make a business of 100 crores because it would be unfair, and he is happy as long as the film has been appreciated.

According to several media reports, Angad said that while Soorma did not make 100 crores, it did make respectable numbers and everybody is happy for it. He went on to say that it is a more performance heavy film with a great story and content. Adding that a film like Masaan did not get the numbers but was also critically acclaimed. Angad also states that since both, Diljith Dosanjh and he are upcoming names in Bollywood, it is going to be difficult and since Sandeep Singh is not a name many people recognise, they have only taken notice now after the film.

Interestingly, Angad said Soorma came at a time when Sanju and Dhadak release and both of them have big names and stories like Ranbir Kapoor playing Sanjay Dutt, who is a rockstar. So, it would be unfair to compare the films as Soorma is a heartland story of two brothers which is very rural. The actor, however, has thanked all those who loved his performance in the film and said it takes films like these to get noticed more.

Angad has previously been seen in Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Pink in 2016 and Salman Khan-starrer Tiger Zinda Hai in 2017 which earned the big bucks at the box office for him.
