After Takht, Karan Johar ropes in Janhvi Kapoor for Dostana 2; Sidharth Malhotra to play male lead
After a brilliant performance in her Bollywood debut Dhadak, Janhvi Kapoor is busy making her way into the industry with quite a few interesting roles. After signing for Karan Johar’s Takht, Janhvi will now reportedly be seen alongside Sidharth Malhotra in the sequel to the 2008 film Dostana, as Karan Johar has finally locked on a good script for the film.
According to various media reports, a source close to the film’s development said Karan had always wanted to make Dostana 2, after the success of the first film. However, while he has been looking for a good script, it is only now that it fits in the scheme of things for him. While two actors have been finalised in Sidharth and Janhvi, the third actor will be a male lead again. The film will be directed by Tarun Mansukhani as the search is on for the final lead and only then will it go on floors.
Dostana, a 2008 Bollywood film, featured Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and John Abraham in the lead roles, apart from Bobby Deol. While Abhishek and John are two casanovas looking to woo Priyanka by acting gay, so that they can live with her, everything takes a turn when she reveals she is in love with her boss (played by Bobby Deol).
Sidharth Malhotra will be seen in a biopic on Kargil martyr Vikram Batra, and Jabariya Jodi with Parineeti Chopra. After Dhadak, Karan Johar signed Janhvi Kapoor in a star cast for upcoming film Takht, alongside Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
