Earlier titled as Padmavati, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's periodic drama starring Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini of Chittor has finally got a release date.

The film, now titled as Padmavat, starring Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh will release on January 25, 2018.

The movie that was in troubled waters will release alongside R Balki's Akshay Kumar-starrer Pad Man.

According to reports, a source close to Pad Man revealed that the crew of the film feels that the move was 'absurd.' The source was quoted saying, "It's insanity. We announced the release date for PadMan six months ago. Now for them to jump in with Padmavat at this late hour is absurd. I am still hoping they will change their mind and release later."

Reports suggest that a source close to the Bhansali production said that the dates are confirmed. The source close to  Padmavat was quoted saying, "It's January 25 for us. We've waited too long. We can't wait anymore. Huge financial stakes are involved."

Padmavat and Pad Man, both release on January 25, 2018, targetting the Republic Day weekend.
