Amitabh Bachchan gets slammed for tweeting ‘Africa wins World Cup 2018’
Many users, however, said that it would be inappropriate to use Africa won the World Cup because the players are of African identity but have been living in France for the longest time.
Just like any other football fan, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan on Monday excitedly tweeted about France winning 2018 FIFA World Cup, however, it did not go down too well with a lot of people. The actor’s tweet said “That’s it then… Africa won the World Cup 2018”, and Twitter did not waste too much time in slamming him for his choice of words.
According to media reports, the France team which has 16 out of 23 who are from immigrant backgrounds saw the likes of people from all over the world play for them, after several years of living in the country. Because of the number, a lot of people tweeted out in support praising their performance. Many users, however, said that it would be inappropriate to use Africa won the World Cup because the players are of African identity but have been living in France for the longest time. Another encouraging tweet even went on to state that it would have been better if he said it was France’s diverse team that won.
However, one such user even said that if Panama had to win, the World Cup trophy would have to be kept in Amitabh Bachchan’s bungalow, after he was allegedly said to be one of the many involved in the Panama papers scandal. Many Twitter did not appreciate the tweet by Big B and did not hesitate to school him for his so-called ‘insensitive’ tweet.
Didn’t expect this Tweet from Big B. If a nation could integrate their immigrants to the mainstream of society so successfully, it’s a huge credit to them.— Sougata Banerji (@BanerjiSougata) July 15, 2018
Iss hisaab se toh agar panama jeet jata toh trophy aapke bungalow mein hi rakhi jaati.— Rofl Gandhi (@RoflGandhi_) July 15, 2018
