Actress Evelyn Sharma who has wowed audiences with her stunning looks and cameos in films like Hindi Medium and Jab Harry Met Sejal, has donned a new role. Evelyn turned director with a new music video that released earlier last month on YouTube. The song, Playboy by UK-based singer Avina Shah, directed by Evelyn has crossed over a million views.
Picturised in retro style, the song shows the girl being a player instead of the boy and that’s the twist. Talking about directing the song, Evelyn says, “This is the first time I got to direct a video. Avina and I have been friends for a long time and when she offered this to me, I immediately said ‘yes.’ I have learnt a lot in the last decade. As a creative person, I was never satisfied and this song was an opportunity to help achieve that,” says the actor excitedly.
Avina, who is known for her earlier single Tere Bina (that crossed over 700K views when it released seven years ago) makes a comeback with Playboy. She says, “This song was my big relaunch after a long period and I was keen that Evelyn should direct because she has been in front of the camera for long and understands what is needed and how it needs to be shot.”
Though Evelyn has always been in front of the camera and one might think that’s what she would enjoy more, the actress says, “I like being behind the camera a lot more. It’s really comfortable, you don’t have to worry about how you look and you don’t feel conscious,” she says with a laugh, adding, “As a director, I had to ensure Avina looked great.”
Even as she is enjoying the attention she is getting for her direction, Evelyn is busy shooting with Prabhas for the 2019 trilingual release Saaho. Ask her how her experience has been and she offers, “It’s been amazing so far because this is my first action film. It’s great to work with Prabhas. He is extremely respectful and is a lot of fun to hang out with.”
