2018 FIFA World Cup: Iceland footballer’s Instagram followers skyrocket after female fans swoon over him

Iceland football has grown by leaps and bounds over the last two years after they won 2-1 against England in the Round of 16 match at Euro 2016. While the team had another stellar performance on Saturday against Lionel Messi’s Argentina, keeping the match tied at 1-1, it is Iceland footballer Rurik Gíslason who has shot to fame because of his stunning looks.
According to various media reports, the Rurik who came on as a substitute in the match against Argentina played for just over 30 minutes and in two days his followers increased from 30,000 to 2,50,000. While a photo of him swimming has gone viral, the footballer is quite popular among South American fans. Brazilian actress Gabriela Lopes even wrote to her two million followers to ask how is it possible for someone to be this cute, instantly getting a lot of likes.
Interestingly, Argentinian actress Gimena Accardi revealed that over 40,000 of her fans followed him under 30 minutes. After a promising first match against World Cup favourites Argentina, Iceland will next been seen playing against Nigeria on Friday.
