Actress Shweta Tripathi gets hitched to rapper Chaitanya Sharma
Shweta Tripathi, the actress known for her promising roles in films such as Masaan and Haraamkhor, gets hitched to her best friend and boyfriend of five years, Chaitanya Sharma, in Goa today. Chaitanya aka Slow Cheetah will be seen in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh.
“We are each others’ biggest fans and biggest critics,” revealed Shweta a few days earlier. The wedding celebrations kick off today in Goa with the ceremony and will be followed by a pool and pyjama party tomorrow.
Shweta who made a debut with Masaan is among those actresses who have chosen to do a lesser number of films, but with impactful storylines. Be it playing a small town girl, a teenager or an ambitious urban girl, Shweta has played every role with ease. “As actors, we keep evolving because we are exposed to so many different characters in films. Recently, I worked in Mirzapur (a web series) which is a hardcore political drama, then on the other side, I will be shooting for Trip Season 2 (web series) for which I will travel to Mauritius. In the former, I wear a hairband — my role demands me to be a complete plain Jane and in the latter, I am being styled for a glamorous look. I really enjoy living the lives of two drastically different characters,” explains Shweta.
The actress has also recently finished filming Gone Kesh, a film about a teenager who suffers from alopecia. But another significant career move for Shweta is her debut in the Tamil film industry with Raja Murugan’s Mehandi Circus. “Raja had seen Masaan and was very sure that he wanted to cast me. I always wanted to do something circus-related and I was more than happy to do this film. It is an out-an-out commercial film,” she says. Shweta starts shooting for Trip Season 2 immediately after her wedding celebrations are over. She will be seen in The Illegal, an independent Hollywood film, in which she plays actor Suraj Sharma’s sister.
