Malayalam actor Kalasala Babu passes away at the age of 68

The Malayalam cinema actor was undergoing treatment for the last three months after he was admitted to a hospital in Kochi where he succumbed to cerebral haemorrhage.

Mollywood lost veteran actor Kalasala Babu on Sunday night after he passed away due to various heart ailments. The Malayalam cinema actor was undergoing treatment for the last three months after he was admitted to a hospital in Kochi where he succumbed to cerebral haemorrhage. The actor is survived by his wife Lalitha and two children, Vishwanthan and Sreedevi.

Kalasala started his acting career in theatre before he moved on to the small screen and eventually the big screen. He made his debut in Malayalam cinema with Ineya Thedi directed by Anthony Eastman. The movie also starred popular south actress Silk Smitha among other actors but it did not do well at the box office. He went on to form a theatre group Kalasala in Thripunithura and their first play Thalavattom went on to become a huge hit in Kerala. 

The Malayalam actor’s most famous role was a 1999 television show Kala in which he played role as Rowdy Dasappan. He is also known for playing the role of Dileep’s father in Lion and other negative characters. He is the son of famous Kathakali dancer Kalamandalam Nair and Mohiniyattam dancer Kalyanikutty Amm.
