While Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt takes up most of the limelight from the Bhatt family for her recent performances after Shaheen Bhatt released her book I’ve never been (Un) happier, a lot of people came out in support of her. In a recent interview, Shaheen revealed that her family has always been supportive during and after her depression phase. However, Alia Bhatt only got to know what her sister went through after reading the book.

Shaheen said it is quite difficult for a depressed person to explain what is going on in their head and penning the book down, helped her and her family understand the illness. Earlier, Alia Bhatt in a video said that while she does not know what Shaheen went through, she will always support her, whenever she needed her help. The writer said that while many people in Bollywood and otherwise are suffering from mental illness, it is their choice whether they want to speak because it does require a lot of courage.

Shaheen revealed that it was her mother Soni Razdan, who got to know first about her depression. However, even her mother did not understand what she was going through because she was a lively young girl who went on to become a quiet and reserved girl. It was only after that that they realised it wasn’t a teenage issue but actually a large problem, which is when they went to a doctor.
