Superstar Shah Rukh Khan who was in the City of Joy for the inauguration of Kolkata International Film Festival on Saturday, once again gave more than one reason for the citizens to love him. King Khan who is known for his smart answers and humour confessed his love for the city with some really witty but honest comments.

Here are four statements that seem to prove SRK’s for love Kolkata:

Kolkata has made me intellectual
I have done 70 films so far, but the only reason film festivals call me is either to dance or come and just speak about welcoming the delegates, and not do anything intellectual. Reason for that is I am not very intelligent. But in the 12 years that I have been in Kolkata with the cricket team, Kolkata Knight Riders, I have become smarter. I am becoming much more intellectual, spending time in Bengal, with all the wonderful stalwarts of cinema, and all the people I keep meeting.

Mamata Di’s award is special to me
Hopefully, in the next ten years, there will come a time, when one of my films will get selected for an international festival of this kind (KIFF). It’s really unfortunate and sad that I haven’t got a National Award till now. But the award I got today that KIFF and that Mamatadi (West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee) so sweetly gave me is a special crystal award.

SRK takes Mamata Di’s advice to learn Bengali seriously
Mamata Di is extremely smart and beautiful. What she has done is she made sure that the biggest two jobs (of inaugurating and speaking at the Kolkata International Film Festival) should be given to the great Mr Amitabh Bachchan and myself. But the intelligent job of coming and talking here and making a point, she has kept it for Mr Bachchan. And the tomfoolery she has left to me. The last time she told me, tum baas Bangla sikhke aa jao, do char line bolo, aur ghar chale jao. (The last time she told me, you learn some Bengali, say two-three lines, and go home).

Mamata Di hamaar film to na bhalobasi
So I know that none of my films will be ever, ever, ever, ever, ever be played in a festival. They don’t deserve too, maybe. But I have got a trailer of my film Zero, so I want to request Mamatadi. Mamatadi hamaar film to na bhalobasi, (Mamata di, my fllm may not be loved), accha nehin hai mera picture, mera picture festival me ayaege nahin, mere ko trailer dekhane ka permission hain, do teen minute, dekhaun? (My films are not good, my films will not be screened in festivals, can I have your permission to show the trailer for two-three minutes).

With such candid statements, and his Zero trailer, SRK won some more Bengali hearts in Kolkata at the KIFF inauguration.
