Popular YouTuber Lilly Singh, known as IISuperwomanII, has announced a break from the online streaming platform. In a recent video, Lilly explained that she is “mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted,” and she plans to take time away in order to recoup her creative energy. She also promised to “be back happier and healthier”. “The thing about YouTube is, in all of its glory, it kind of is a machine and it makes creators believe that we have to pump out content consistently even at the cost of our health and our life and our mental happiness,” she said. However, we know nothing about how long the break will be. “I’m not making any rules. This might be a one week break, this might be a one month break - I have no idea,” she said.

The 30-year-old further added that she is not “particularly proud” with her recent content and wants to take time to reflect the videos she wants to create. She emphasised in the video that she wasn’t “leaving YouTube” and that her break doesn’t reflect a change of her feelings about the platform or her fans, whom she refers to as Team Super.

For eight years, Lilly has consistently released videos and daily vlogs on YouTube. She currently has more than 16 million subscribers between her channels and is one of the highest-earning YouTubers. She also released a self-help book last year, made a movie, and has done philanthropic work.

Her fans have tweeted expressing their support and love asking her to take her time and be back soon.
