Indian fashion designer Manish Malhotra is known to have designed some of the best costumes in the film industry for movies like Rangeela, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Having styled the likes of Tabu, Rekha, Madhuri Dixit, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra among others, he has revealed the influence of Bollywood on the world, and we aren’t too surprised.

Manish Malhotra, in a recent interview, said being in India, where cinema and its influence is so vast, it is no surprise that Bollywood has a powerful international footprint. He went on to add that while it is really massively popular, their social media following and a front-row seat at all the major fashion week around the world, grants the exposure. Talking about the influence, he said it is only obvious that all the actors imitate modern culture on screen and off it with their own style, making the new trend, hugely popular.

Interestingly, Manish Malhotra designed his first costume for Juhi Chawla in the 1990 film Swarg. However, he shot to fame after he designed ensembles for Urmila Matondkar in 1995 for Rangeela. It was only 10 years later that he launched his own label but he has maintained that Bollywood is always his first love. Manish is currently getting ready to showcase his collection, inspired by his latest couture range Zween, at the first Fashion Weekend International (FWI) in Doha where the showstopper will be Aishwarya Bachchan.
