Deepika Padukone shares hard-hitting video about depression; urges fans to use #NotAshamed to start a conversation

The Padmaavat actress went on to state that depression is just like any other sickness, and requires intervention.

It is a known fact that Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has suffered from depression and how she overcame it in the past. The 32-year-old actress now taking the cause forward the shared a video on Instagram and it has now gone viral. In the video, Deepika shares her story and the need to create awareness about depression on World Mental Health Day and urged all her followers to talk about their stories and discuss it more than before. 

In the video, Deepika said in 2014, she was diagnosed with clinical depression after dealing with it for years but successfully overcame it. However, she goes on to add that 90 per cent of the people suffer from depression but never seek help for it. The Padmaavat actress went on to state that depression is just like any other sickness, and requires intervention. The actress told her followers, if they too, like her suffer from any form of mental illness, she urges them to come forward and their story through the hashtag #NotAshamed, through a mental health initiative by the actress called The Live Laugh Love Foundation. 

Deepika Padukone is currently on a break from films after Padmaavat earlier this year. If rumours are to be believed, it is because of her wedding in November to Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh in Como, Italy.
