Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo on Monday reached another milestone, that of being the most followed celebrity on Instagram, a feat earlier held by American singer Selena Gomez. While Selena has taken a break from social media after her recent breakdown, it looks like Ronaldo has got more fans, after his move to Juventus, earlier this season from Real Madrid.
According to a recent count on Monday, Cristiano has 144,338,650 followers on the picture-sharing social media platform as Selena is settled at 144,321,029, making the former surpass her by a good 17,000 followers recently. While the 33-year-old football star is quite a celebrity on the field, he posts many pictures of himself and his family which is his 23-year-old Spanish model girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and his four children including 8-year-old son Cristiano Jr., who was born in 2010. The other three are twins, Eva and Mateo, who were born in June 2017 in the US through surrogacy and his daughter Alana with Georgina in November 2017.
Interestingly, it has been over a month that Selena has posted a picture on Instagram. The singer's last post was a selfie, in which she explained her reasons to step away from social media. She is also currently undergoing treatment at a facility in the US after she recently had a mental breakdown during a checkup at a hospital near her home.
