It is a compliment for me that my character is stuck in people’s head: Anushka Sharma on Sui Dhaaga memes
As soon as the trailer of Sui Dhaaga released, Anushka Sharma became more than a Bollywood actress, she became an internet meme. In this day and age, being a meme makes one much more popular than ever before; though many actors may consider it an insult. However, Anushka is loving the memes and is happy that just one trailer could make her a meme.
In a recent interview with a leading publication, Anushka said the viral memes were hilarious and she even kept sharing them with Varun Dhawan and director Sharat Katariya; in fact Varun even called her ‘Memes Ki Rani’. The Pari actress also went on to add that with so many memes it definitely means that the audience have identified with the character Mamta in the film. Anushka said while it is a meme, she takes it as a compliment because people dedicate time to make the memes and for the film, it happened so naturally on a large scale.
However, Anushka Sharma said that she hopes people appreciate her role as an embroidery artist because it is not a role that she has lived with and she had to be restrained. The film Sui Dhaaga which releases on September 28, revolves around the concept of love and respect through independence and is said to have taken a leaf out of Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy.
