Popular Kannada actor Vijay on Monday was arrested along with three other accomplices for kidnapping and assaulting a gym trainer from Vasanth Nagar. The victim, Maruti Gowda was kidnapped by Vijay, his gym instructor, driver and a friend, late on Saturday night before they beat him up in the car.
According to reports, 26-year-old Maruti Gowda’s uncle Krishnamurthy H alias Panipuri Kitty lodged a complaint against the four. The incident occurred after Vijay allegedly asked Maruti about his uncle, who was earlier close friends with the actor as the latter had trained under him. However, Maruti got angry because Vijay used foul language because of which a few supporters of the actor assaulted him and took him in the car towards Bengaluru where they beat him up again.
Vijay has filed a counter-complaint against Panipuri Kitty and his supporters for allegedly damaging his car, at the police station. The actor and his three accomplices have been sent to 14 days in judicial custody while Maruti Gowda has been admitted to the hospital with torn lips.
