Karan Singh Grover has been an unstoppable force on the big screen and the small; the actor who is a show stealer as Rishabh Bajaj in the much talked about reboot of Kasautii Zindagii Kay, is all set to make his foray into the realm of streaming, with his digital debut Boss – Baap of Special Services. The Alt Balaji series is a sleek and gripping crime thriller, in which Karan stars alongside former Chak De! girl Sagarika Ghatge; incidentally Karan made his screen debut with Balaji Telefilms, and the show, in many ways, is a homecoming for the actor. Boss, which premiered on August 2, is an action-packed whodunit which unravels against the stunning backdrop of Shimla, and features Sagarika in the role of a righteous and feisty cop. Karan on the other hand, is playing the role of Sudhir Kohli, who claims to be a detective, but his real identity will keep the audiences guessing throughout the show. The trailer which released on YouTube a couple of weeks ago, has already crossed 3.7 million views; needless to say, Boss is set to find a very warm reception among desi fans.

“My character is someone who deals with crime in a very different way; he looks at it like a criminal would, and this is different from how Sakshi’s (Sagarika) team looks at it. And he is very street smart and why he uses his charm and his personality to deal with things the way he does, would be better understood when you watch the show,” Karan tells us about his role. The actor is of course, one of the very few names who has enjoyed an almost equivalent success in Bollywood and the realm of television, and tells us he is tremendously excited for his advent into a millennial-friendly format. "The format is very exciting as it has got so much attention throughout the world. And I think everything is going to be online very soon. I think it’s amazing that our audiences are not limited to a particular place or time or medium; they can catch up on the story at any time, anywhere they are, whether they are travelling or at work.. well, hopefully not while they are working (laughs), but whenever they find time!” the actor tells us.

Karan is an avid binge-watcher himself

Karan is not just a fan of the format, but like most of us, is also an avid binge-watcher, and we obviously questioned him about his streaming habits. “I binge-watch a lot. I just completed the fourth season of Queen of the South (an acclaimed crime drama, which is an adaptation of the Spanish telenovela La Reina del Sur). I have seen all of Sacred Games, Mirzapur and Delhi Crimes and they are all really, really good. Also obviously Game of Thrones and all of Marvel series,” the actor signs off.
