Marathi actor Mandar Kulkarni arrested for molesting 17-year-old girl
Marathi actor Mandar Kulkarni has been arrested for molesting a minor girl.
The 17-year-old victim reportedly filed an FIR with the Deccan Police Station, alleging that the accused invited her to his residence on the pretext of getting a photoshoot done for upcoming TV shows.
The two reportedly met at an acting workshop six months back. During discussions and gatherings, Mandar talked about his contacts in the Marathi film industry. A week ago, he reportedly approached the victim with an offer of an audition test for a TV show. He also asked her to get a photoshoot done for the same and offered to click her pictures for free. For the same reason, Mandar reportedly convinced the girl to come to his residence alone for the photoshoot.
Police have booked Mandar under IPC 354, and also him charged with POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act section 11, 13, 14,15, 2(1). IT act (67)a, (67)b have also been registered against the actor as he clicked the victim's pictures using his mobile phone.
His mobile phone and laptop have been seized. According to reports, this is not the first time that the actor has been accused of clicking obscene pictures of girls. However, during interrogation, Mandar claimed to be suffering from a medical condition where he does not have control of what he does.
The Mumbai-baser actor has worked in Marathi TV shows like Amhi Doghe Raja Rani and Radha Prem Rangi Rangli.
