Bollywood actor Swara Bhaskar is known to be quite vocal about various issues and does not hesitate to make bold statements, which are often not liked by many people on social media. The actress recently criticised the Supreme Court for involving itself in the Hardik Pandya-KL Rahul controversy and now she spoke about being a staunch feminist and women empowerment in a discussion revolving around Harvey Weinstein.

Swara said a lot of people have this deep notion of shame which makes them fail to recognise the wrong in society, and call out and speak about the issue. She went on to add shame is also what stops people from coming together and forming a movement to talk about the issues. The Veere Di Wedding actor said shame is nothing because there is integrity to the soul and even if women’s bodies are violated, nobody can take the integrity from them because the sense of sanctity does not lie in one’s body.

Swara spoke about the issue in the discussion called Harvey Weinstein - The Inside Story, along with Dia Mirza and documentary-maker Anand Patwardhan. Interestingly, Dia added that if women feel uncomfortable, they should not be with somebody because if you are with somebody, the person should desire you as much as you desire them. On a similar note, Anand said India is lacking a sexual revolution and the country needs economical, sexual and political empowerment of women, because everybody is equal and children should be thought the same.
