Reese Witherspoon and Zoe Saldana unite to produce a Netflix series
It’s a team-up between two of Hollywood’s most successful actresses. Zoe Saldana, who played the female leads in Avatar and Guardians of the Galaxy, has joined hands with Legally Blonde and Big Little Lies star Reese Witherspoon to adapt Tembi Lockes memoir From Scratch, as a miniseries for Netflix.
Saldana will executive produce along with Witherspoon and the latter’s producing partner Lauren Neustadter under Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine banner, which has previously produced the David Fincher thriller Gone Girl.
The story, based on Tembi’s life, is about a woman who finds love in Italy and plans to live with her man back home in the States. But a tragedy ensues and she has to raise her daughter alone in difficult times.
From Scratch will mark the first television role of Saldana’s career. As for Reese, she is a proven veteran in this format and is said to appear as a lead in the upcoming series Little Fires Everywhere.
