Quentin Tarantino to join JJ Abrams on new Star Trek project

Quentin Tarantino has pitched a new idea for the rebooted Star Trek franchise and JJ Abrams has reportedly agreed to assemble a writers room

The Star Trek franchise has been rebooted in the past few years with Star Trek in 2009, Star Trek Into Darkness in 2013 which both had JJ Abrams as a director, and finally Star Trek Beyond in 2016 with Justin Lin. 

The latest update is set to come from director Quentin Tarantino, who pitched an idea for a new Star Trek film. JJ Abrams has agreed to plan and organise a writers' room on the pitch accroding to The Hollywood Reporter.

While Paramount had preciously announced that they were working on a new film for the franchise, no director had been announced. There have been no further confirmations from the studio, but Tarantino is expected to fill the role of director.
