Shruti Haasan's Cannes debut with Sangamithra
Sundar C's tri-lingual film, Sangamithra has Shruti Hassan in the lead role along with Jayam Ravi and Arya as the male protagonists. The film is all set to be unveiled on the Opening Night of the 70th Cannes Film Festival, May 18. Shruti Hassan plays the role of a warrior princess and the story is set in the 8th century AD.
The lead cast will be seen walking the red carpet with director, Sundar C. The producers of the film, Narayanan Ramaswamy and Hema Rukmani from Thenandal Studios along with production designer Sabu Cyril will also share the red carpet.
The film is already receiving a lot of expectation and is supposedly the most challenging project for all the three stars. Shruti Hassan is said to be undergoing rigorous physical and combat training for the same. The film is said to be the biggest film to date for Thenandal Studios. "I'm so happy to be taking our film Sangamithra to an international audience via such a prestigious platform like the Cannes Film Festival. We know that this is a story which will find a great connect with national and international viewers and we are so happy to have them as part of our journey right from the beginning," says Shruti Hassan.
