Malayalam actor Ajith dies at 56

He started his career with the 1984 hit "Paranu Paranu Paranu" by Malayali director Padmarajan but went on to play the lead role in 1989 film Agnipravesham.

Malayalam cinema's permanent villian Ajith died at a private hospital in Kochi on Thursday.The actor, who is known for portraying negative roles, was admitted to the hospital 10 days ago following health issues. 

The 56-year-old had received the moniker of 'permanent villian' because of his very successful role as Kasim in 1987 crime-thriller "Irupathaam Noottaandu"  starring Mohanlal.

In a career spanning over three decades, the actor has worked in over 500 films including Tamil and Hindi and Nadodikkattu, No.20 Madras Mail, Yuvajanotsavam, Nirnayam, Aaraam Thampuran are among the most popular ones. 

He started his career with the 1984 hit "Paranu Paranu Paranu" by Malayali director Padmarajan but went on to play the lead role in 1989 film Agnipravesham. The actor was last seen in 2012 film Ivan Ardhanaari. 

Ajith's body will be taken to Kollam, where the last rites would be performed later in the day.
