This Republic Day weekend promised a clash between two highly anticipated Bollywood films- Padmaavat and Padman. Padmaavat makers announced the release date of the film earlier this month once they received clearance from the censor board.

However, in a sudden turn of events Padman, starring Sonam Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, and Radhika Apte bowed out and have postponed the movie release to February 9, 2018. And Padmavat will be releasing on January 25.

Padman is based on the life of Tamil Nadu-based social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, who created the affordable sanitary napkins in rural India. But now the movie will have a box office clash with Neeraj Pandey's Aiyaary.
