Couldn't connect with Paresh Rawal playing dad, says Namrata Dutt about Sanju

The Bollywood film, released in June this year, has already entered the 300 crore club.

A huge section of cine-goers has lauded Rajkumar Hirani's biopic on Sanjay Dutt, Sanju. However, the latter’s sister Namrata maintains that though she liked the performances, she didn’t exactly connect with either Paresh Rawal or Manisha Koirala playing the roles of her parents - Sunil and Nargis Dutt. In a recent interview with a leading media organisation, she said that although she liked Paresh Rawal's portrayal of her father, she could not really connect with it. "I can't see anyone portraying my father. He was special. Not that I didn't like his performance. I didn't connect, but I'm not the audience. I'm Sunil Dutt's daughter," she said.

About Manisha Koirala, stepping into Nargis' shoes for the movie, the Dutt scion said, "She was okay too. Being Sunil Dutt and Nargis' daughter, it's difficult to make judgments. If the audience connected with them, it's great!” She did mention that she quite enjoyed Ranbir Kapoor’s acting.

Also, the Rajkumar Hirani film has drawn some flak for not focussing on the actor's relationship with his sisters, Namrata and Priya Dutt. The Bollywood film with Ranbir in the titular role, hit the screens on June 29, and has already garnered more than 300 crores at the box office. The film essayed the strained relationship between Sanjay and his father, which saw several dramatic ups and downs, given the former’s drug abuse and jail phase.
