It was November 14 last year that Bengal got the GI tag for rosogolla and what could be a better day than this to launch the trailer of the much anticipated movie of the year, Rosogolla?
Directed by Pavel and presented by filmmakers Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy, the film is the launch vehicle of national award winning filmmakers, Kaushik Ganguly and Churni Ganguly's son, Ujaan Ganguly.
The film, which is based on the true story of Nabin Chandra Das, the inventor of the succulent sweet rosogolla, seems to have all the right ingredients to make this year's Christmas sweeter. Set in the late 19th century, it has some of the best actors of Bengali film industry, including actors Kharaj Mukherjee, Kaushik Sen, Aparajita Auddy, Chiranjeet, Rajatava Dutta and Bidipta Chakraborty among others.
"I am grateful to my mentors Shiboprosad and Nandita for giving me this opportunity. In fact, the budget of Rosogolla far exceeds that of any of their own films and I hope to live up to the expectations of my audience," says Pavel, the director of the Rosogolla.
The trailer launch also coincided with the birthday of Churni Ganguly and the whole unit celebrated her big day by bringing a cake for her to cut. Rosogolla is slated to be released on December 21.
