Even before the strains of  Durga Puja dhaak have died down, director duo Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay and Nandita Roy are back with the announcement of their forthcoming film, Belashuru and revealed the first look of the film.

Belashuru takes off with the same cast and crew of their 2015 film, Belaseshe, the highest ever grosser in Bengali films, but Mukherjee stresses that the story doesn’t take off from where the film ended. “It’s not a sequel in the true sense. Just as Haami had the same protagonists from our filmRamdhanu, in Belashuru, too, the characters are the same, but the story is something very different and has no reference to Belaseshe,” reiterates Mukherjee, looking the quintessential Bengali man in a light sea green kurta.

Again Roy and Mukherjee have chosen a topic that would touch hearts, young and old and will have something to resonate with everybody. According to sources, the filmmakers have again drawn inspiration from real life incidents and the story will revolve around veteran actors Soumitra Chatterjee and Swatilekha Sengupta, the main protagonists in the film.

“This is a family film inspired by a true story of a couple in Kolkata that created a stir. Trust, love, fidelity are now very rare in a relationship, with very few genuinely happy families around.Belashuru will try to portray the real essence of love and bonding,” adds Mukherjee.

Besides Soumitra Chatterjee and Swatilekha Sengupta, the cast also includes Rituparna Sengupta, Aparajita Auddy, Kharaj Mukherjee, Monami Ghosh, Anindya Chatterjee, Shankar Chakraborty, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee, Indrani Dutta and Pradip Bhattacharya.

“Belaseshe had created a huge impact on the audience across the country and abroad. With Belashuru, too, history is on its way to repeat itself. A great script and good directors are pivotal for a film to do well and I have full faith in Shiboprosad and Nandita,” says Tolly star Rituparna Sengupta.

This Puja saw the release of Manojder Adbhut Bari produced by Mukherjee’s Windows Production. This small budget film has managed to eke out a space for itself amidst the giant players and has grown from strength to strength, recovering costs from Box Office.

Later this year will see the release of the Windows’ third film, Rosogolla, the launch vehicle of Ujaan Ganguly, son of national award winning directors Kaushik Ganguly and Churni Ganguly. Kontho, in which Mukherjee plays the lead, is also slated for an early 2019 release.

Belashuru will tentatively have a summer or Puja release in 2019.
