After enthralling the audience with her stellar performance as a foreign-returned architect in the movie Shankar's Raman's Gurgaon, actor Ragini Khanna is all set to experiment by playing a character with negative shades in National Award-winning filmmaker Suman Mukhupadhyay's new wen film, Posham Pa for Zee5. A psychological thriller inspired by true-life incidents, Posham Pa will see this talented artiste playing a sociopath, something she has never played before and is in complete contrast to her character Preet in Gurgaon.
Talking about her role in this film, Ragini tells, "The transformation was not limited only to the physical one. As an actor, the role required me to push myself to the extreme and break the various mental barriers I had. In order to prepare for the role, I had to completely deconstruct myself and question my values, thought process, ethics and everything I believed in. It was a very scary and difficult process". Written by Nimish Misra, the film, which releases on August 21 is a morbid and dark tale of a mother who initiates her daughters into the dark world of crime.
The actor, who has also been seen in such television serials including Bhaskar Bharti and Sasural Genda Phool has never been seen in a negative character before and playing this role has also tried her acting skills in a different way. In order to prepare for the role, I had to completely deconstruct myself and question my values, thought process, ethics and everything I believed in. It was a very scary and difficult process. The struggle is always to make your character and its emotions look real. As an artiste, you have to operate with honesty and integrity. If you are fake, it will reflect on screen," tells Ragini.
Ragini adds that her love for dark films such as Pulp Fiction and the fact that she is an avid reader and has read up several books on criminal psychology has helped her to a great extent to prepare for the role. Sharing her experience of working for the first time with filmmaker Suman Mukhopadhyay, she says, "He’s a brilliant craftsman. He has done theatre and films that have redefined various conventions. He is an actor’s director and understood me so well which made the whole experience of shooting this film such an easy and memorable affair".
