After nearly two weeks of build up, the Gully Boy trailer was officially released online today. The trailer gives a glimpse into this much-awaited biopic that's partly based on the life of rapper Divine from Mumbai.

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt play the lead. Taking a break from his usual glamorous avatar, Ranveer looks like a boy from a chawl in Mumbai. He is a young Muslim boy who lives in the slums and dreams of achieving success as a rapper. While Alia sports a hijab and is seen as a bold and confident young girl. There's also a scene where her acidic remarks will make you sit up and take notice.

Both the actors look promising in the trailer and the supporting cast that includes Vijay Raaz, Kalki Koechlin and Amruta Subhash too seem impressive.

The trailer was launched by the lead pair and the director Zoya Akhtar, along with Ritesh Sidhwani, who has co-produced the film along with Farhan Akhtar under their Excel Entertainment banner.

The film's title is inspired by Divine's breakout song, Mere Gully Mein and his troupe of street rappers who call themselves the 'Gully Gang'. The film will premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival's Berlinale Special category before its release in India on February 14.
