Makers of cult-comedy Kung Fury confirm Schwarzenegger onboard for the sequel

No one thought a Swedish filmmakers homage to action movies and video games from the 1980s would gain any traction. David Sandberg proved everyone wrong. Not only did Kung Fury—an over-the-top action comedy that has its foundation in old-school Hollywood movies—go on to gain crowdfunding of $6,30,019, it even premiered in Cannes and amassed in over 40 million YouTube views across various channels.



Now, with big-wig producers like George Acogny backing the second edition of ‘the greatest damn cop of all time’, Hollywood A-listers like Michael Fassbender and legends including Arnold Schwarzenegger have been cast in starring roles. “Kung Fury 2 is the very exciting vision of David Sandberg, and it contains all the elements of a magical and fun ride for all ages,” said George in a recently-released statement. He added, “We are thrilled to be part of this great project and can’t wait to share it with the whole world, where it will no doubt create excitement across the globe!”

The feature-length film, Kung Fury 2, is set in once-again ’80s Miami and the Sandberg is scheduled to start filming from July 29.
