Starting the week rather colourfully, I first headed to the new make-up destination in town – Stylicious by Sam Makeup Artistry’s Studio and Academy. The store, a specialist in bridal make-up and styling, was launched by Miss India Andhra Pradesh 2018, Shreya Rao Kamavarapu, in Jubilee Hills on Friday. The Instagram stories about the event obviously got the #PrettyVibes hashtag trending that day.
Later came some retail therapy. Taking a break from the usual fashion brands, the city’s ladies made their way to the pop-up retail exhibition, Pandora – Be Your Own Label at Park Hyatt on Saturday. The exhibition had collections from designers including Blumuslin, Babita Malkani, Varun Bahl, Yashodhara and Aarti & Ishanee, among others. Shopping met showing off and no one complained.
Socialites and automobile enthusiasts headed to Mahavir Motors Mercedes-Benz showroom that showcased collections by uber-luxury brands. Celebrated designer Asmita Marwa also showcased her summer collection 'Trunk Show' on Saturday.
That evening gave us all a reason to flaunt our best outfits, as the all-new Park Hyatt Place hosted a Bollywood-themed fashion night featuring the collections of Arun Jan and Ahad Arab. Actor Sonu Sood walked the ramp as a showstopper, while MLA Shakeel Ahmed was seen seated among the guests. Adding to the glamour quotient was a belly dance performance by actress Gehana Vasisth and a Russian artiste.
Adding a bit of variety to the mix was the musical live band competition, Forum Rock On held at Forum Sujana Mall on Sunday. The event saw performers from around the city present the best of their tunes and compositions. Bikash Rath, a bass rhythm guitarist, and Joseph Onesimus, a trained musician, were judges for the event. The young folk were swaying to the tunes and went back home as though they had a fun workout. All in all, a week that had all elements of a great one – fashion, music and celebrities. A happy and happening week, I would say.
