Sun shines on Sania

Our party coloumnist, Vibhuti Jain, gives us a round-up of the parties in Hyderabad this week.

Oodles of glamour, shopping and a big, fat Hyderabadi wedding were the highlights of the week that was. The weekend began with the Label Bazaar Trunk 2.0 at Ciclo Cafe. This multi-designer exhibition helmed by stylist Anam Mirza and her partner Abdul Rasheed, brought together big designers under one roof. Also, guess who we bumped into! The glowing mum-to-be Sania Mirza was spotted at this exhibition. The tennis star had come down to support her sister, Anam. Labels such as Kritika Murarka, Oblum and Zahana, were on display at the two-day exhibition.

Later that evening, we were present to witness the engagement ceremony of Sai Priya Sattoor, daughter of a prominent city-based hotelier Pradeep Sattoor at Hyderabad International Convention Centre. Sai Priya and her beau Abhilash Malagani were all smiles and were seen greeting all the guests who had come to wish them. One of the biggest draws was the Bombay street food stalls.

And, from one big engagement do to another grand wedding affair. Tejaswini, daughter of Boyapati Brahmananda Rao, brother of T’town director Boyapati Srinu — wed Midhun Sarath. The ceremony was attended by the who’s who of Hyderabad. Spotted at the do were Tollywood stars Ram Charan, Balakrishna, music composer Devi Sri Prasad, producers Allu Arvind and Sai Korrapati. The blushing bride was seen in a beautiful red Kanjeevaram sari and the groom looked dashing beside her in a sherwani. On Sunday evening, the swish set headed to the TOT Pub at Jubilee Hills, where a launch party was held. The guests enjoyed the hip-hop music by DJ Clement and an extensive array of cocktails that was on offer.
We ended our week at two much-talked-about fashion fiestas. This time, the designers celebrated
handlooms. Acclaimed fashion designer Vinita Pittie, along with socialite Bina Mehta, unveiled
Krishna Silks in Abids and spoke about how the designers can make handwoven weaves popular with the younger fashionistas.

Then, I headed to another fashion soirée, the curtain raiser of Sutra Exhibition on Sunday at Marigold Hotel. As we chatted about the latest trends with the guests, we noticed that actress Varshini Sounderajan, who looked like a vision in white, was quite the cynosure of all eyes, at the event. Now it wouldn’t be too far off the mark to say that it was quite the fashionable end to a happening week!
