This was certainly one of those ‘these are a few of my favourite things’ kinda week, with lots to report, so I’ll start with the obvious favourite, and we’ll go from there. Kickstarting the week was a meet and greet event with the Chennai Super Kings courtesy Gulf Oil, ahead of the CSK and RCB face-off in Bengaluru. As always, the audience was filled with die-hard fans who had everything from questions about the latest ‘Dum Andar’ campaign, speaking to the resilience and never-give-up CSK spirit, to proclamations of undying love for Dhoni. My favourite question had to be from one of the youngest in the crowd, who asked the skipper to tell all the youngsters out there how to ‘play it cool’. Dhoni as always had great advice, applicable both to cricket and life.

Back in Chennai, it was time for a little retail therapy, first with an experiential trunk show at Gabbana, this time OAR in collaboration with TGC (The Gentlemen’s Community) Dubai. We got to meet founder Karan Bangera, who talked us through the specially curated collection of vintage eyewear. I loved the Insta description that perfectly sums it up — ‘Urban Classics for Modern Dandies’. While I kept veering towards my favourite aviators, Osman encouraged us to mix things up a little. The accessory trail continued, where later in the week, we saw many of the same faces at the launch of Luxe Bridge at Express Avenue. With some of the most iconic handbag brands under one roof, many for the first time in Chennai, you can be sure everyone made a beeline for their favourites. Adding a special touch was harp player Meagan Pandian.

Wild Karnataka

Things got a tad wild later in the week with the documentary premiere of Wild Karnataka, which was narrated by David Attenborough. Hosted by Shvetha Jaishankar, the event saw one of the filmmakers, Sarath Champati, fielding some serious and fun questions from the crowd.

And just in time for World Earth Day, Bounce launched India’s first Eco Salon at OMR, with international senior hair artiste Brian Suhr. The new space was a bloggers and ‘influencers’ delight, looking straight out of Alice in Wonderland. Add to that some customised pampering and expert advice... what more could a
girl want?
