What was Chennai up to last week? Here's a glimpse of all the hottest events from around the city

Between a trunk show by Anita Dongre, a visit from Rocky Star and a new co-working space in town, this week fairly choc-a-bloc

It was a whirlwind weekend with the city’s social scene buzzing with launches, pop-ups and parties. The invites were almost as elaborate as the events themselves with overflowing hampers and goodie bags doing the rounds. So I’m going to do my best to rattle off this week’s highlights. Here goes.

Visiting Chennai this week was Anita Dongre for multiple events, one of which was a trunk show at Taj Connemara showcasing some of the best pieces from her label ‘Pink City’. Chennai’s swish set turned up in full force to check out the collection and shop their favourites. Playing host were Deepali Goyal and Tina Malhotra along with Anita Dongre herself. The next stop was at Bent Chair for a collaboration line, Rocky Star homes by Bent Chair. Guests loved the designer’s high fashion home décor line, reflecting his signature glam style.

The launches included Twisty Tails — the doggy friendly café, opening at a new and improved space in Alwarpet. Food took a backseat to puppy love with everyone indulging in some cuddle time with the fur babies. Meanwhile, across town at Anna Nagar the influencer brigade had congregated for the launch of F215, a hip new co-working space.

Sunday saw the opening of Dramatic Pause, a new label by Gayathri Jagannath. Again, we saw lots of pretty faces — models, designers and the ‘Insta famous’, all wearing pieces from the new line. In the evening, we found ourselves at Hyatt Regency Chennai for a musical evening featuring Anil Srinivasan, Unnikrishnan, Srinivas and Shakthisree Gopalan, for a fundraiser by the Chennai Liver Foundation and Young Indians. Despite being a serious event to create awareness on World Hepatitis Day, the crowd enjoyed the specially curated evening, with all the popular hits, and Anil’s special narration.
