With the IPL coming to a close, it all boils down to this weekend, and the pressure is on for the boys in yellow. Along with discussions about ‘who wore what’ at the Met Gala, and pictures of the Royal Baby, social media is a blur of memes and good wishes for the Chennai Super Kings.

It was a serious case of ‘Yellove’ at Express Avenue this week, as hordes of fans, both cricket and otherwise, turned up to meet DJ Bravo. V20 Cricket (the brainchild of Akhil Nath) got fans to enjoy the virtual cricket experience, while winning the chance to meet the man himself. While I got to enjoy it all from my safe space on stage, it was crazy to witness the mania that unfolded when Bravo arrived. Fans of all ages waited to meet their idol, (the youngest was five years old) and he certainly didn’t disappoint. After trying out virtual cricket, where he managed to score a couple of fours, Bravo took to the stage to perform all his hits, with the help of the kids in the audience. The crowd was chanting ‘DJ Bravo’ long after the cricketer had left, trailed by loads of hardcore fans hoping for more selfies.

This week, also saw the launch of Toscano in Chennai on Khadar Nawaz Khan Road. The exclusive event had a nice relaxed vibe, versus the frenzy that usually accompanies most launches. Guests got to enjoy the new space and sample the menu, which included red pumpkin and Ricotta Ravioli and Spaghetti Pescatore. And for dessert, some Mango and Lychee Panacotta to beat the summer heat.

Besides Priyanka and Deepika on the red carpet, there was also some serious India representation with Mumbai hip-hop troupe ‘The Kings’ winning the World of Dance reality show. The 14-member dance ensemble also bagged a whopping prize of USD 1 million.
