Sadhya diaries and some serious retail therapy!
Just as we finish with Spring Summer 2019, the focus shifts to the festive season, with Diwali giving everyone a ‘get out of jail free’ card in the shopping department. This week saw almost a dozen pop-ups and exhibitions, offering a dizzying range of products. Of course we tried to hit as many spots as we could, (some serious FOMO you see), but even the best of us couldn’t cover all there was, what with delicious Onam Sadhya getting in the way.
I started my retail therapy with The Trunk show at Express Avenue, curated by Sunita Agarwal. Despite my plans to ‘pop by for a look’, I left with bagfuls of stuff from handcrafted bowls and pottery to healthy cookies. The next stop was at Buva House for The Festive Swirl by Style Trunk Co, where a fun mix of brands were on display. Mother-daughter duo, Asha Dusseja and Neha were busy ensuring that shoppers made the most of their time there. I especially loved the hair accessories by Ami Mane and the multi-way jackets by Harsh Harsh. Meanwhile across town at Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park, Arti Badgy’s fashion and fine jewellery exhibition was underway, which also included a fashion show featuring women achievers from across Chennai.
My week ended on a slightly different note with me getting to be in the judge’s seat, alongside Karun Raman, auditioning newcomers for an upcoming fashion week. It was a great experience, getting to meet so many young hopefuls, all of whom were happy to strut their stuff.
