House of Cards will continue for a final season without Spacey

Following Kevin Spacey being fired from the show due amounting sexual assault allegations, the plot of the final sixth season will shift towards Robin Wright's character, Claire Underwood

Actor Kevin Spacey, who played House of Cards' lead character Frank Underwood, has been facing a growing amount of sexual assault allegations since late October and has since been fired from his post on the show. 

Chief Ted Sarandos announced on Monday that the show will continue for one final season without Spacey. The last season will be shorter than previous seasons with only eight episodes, and the previously filmed material with Spacey will be thrown out. 

Specific plot details are yet to be released, but the final season will focus on Robin Wright's character, Claire Underwood. Following the announcement, Sarandos said, “We are excited to bring closure to fans.”
