Talking to the Television Critics Association, HBO President of Programming, Casey Bloys, said that the much-awaited season 8 of American drama series Game of Thrones will be back in the ‘first half of 2019’. After much speculation about when the final season’s release date, the window has now been slightly narrowed. According to reports, Casey Bloys was asked when fans could expect the show to return, and after initially saying “sometime in 19”, he additionally stated it would be in ‘the first half’ of next year.

While talking to a popular magazine, actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, suggested the last season will be worse than anyone imagines and will see quite a few deaths. The seventh season, which aired in 2017, set up quite a few double-crosses. While Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) may side back with Cersei (Lena Headey), Daenerys Targaryen aka the Mother of Dragons (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington)’s bond might fall apart, when they find out that Jon has a better claim to the throne. Although there are many fan theories doing rounds on the internet, nothing can be predicted, considering it’s the Game of Thrones!

The final season will be directed by David Benioff, DB Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik.
