Meet Alan Powell, Priyanka Chopra's love interest on Quantico
Although Quantico will not be renewed for a fourth season, the ongoing Season Three promises to pack a punch, say its makers. One of the star attractions on the show is the addition of Mike McQuigg, an FBI agent, essayed by 33-year-old American singer/actor Alan Powell, as a series regular. Talking about his entry to the show, the actor, who has in the past appeared in films like Caged No More and in the TV show Nashville, says, “Mike is an undercover FBI agent who has worked for years to infiltrate a Southern white supremacist collective. But due to a mix-up, his cover is blown, and he joins the black ops team that’s led by Alex Parrish, portrayed by Priyanka Chopra.”
Interestingly, Powell was the one Chopra shared a steamy kiss with, for a scene in Quantico — the images of which went viral. Ask him if there’s more to their relationship than just the onscreen kiss, and Powell says that it’s all strictly professional. “You can tell when Priyanka walks into the room that she is a star and she has that quality that stars have. As I’ve gotten to know her over the course of the season, we’ve become really good friends,” he admits.
Created by Josh Safron and produced by Michael Seitzman and Mark Gordon, Quantico explores the lives of young government agents as they go through training to become special agents. In the ongoing third season, Alex Parrish, who was living anonymously in Italy, is forced to return to New York on a new mission. “Of all the places we shot, Italy was beautiful, and they’ve shot that so well. New York is still my favourite place in the world. We really took advantage of New York, we showed the city, and filmed really interesting episodes with great storylines and characters that use this incredible setting,” he says.
Quantico airs Saturdays at 9 pm on Star World and Star World HD.
