The art of travel

Close to three million people from across the world visit The Nilgiris every year and the numbers keep on increasing year after year. However, there is substantially a large number of potential travellers who either do not have adequate information about The Nilgiris. Attempting to bridge this lacuna by 2018, the Nilgiri Hotel and Restaurant Association(NHRA) met at the ITC Fortune Resort Sullivan Court, Ooty, where NHRA Committee member R Muralidharan gave a presentation of a guided tour into the education, culture, tribes, rural areas, wildlife and local cuisine attractions of The Nilgiris. With investments totalling arguably up to `500 crore, the hospitality sector in The Nilgiris is looking at class tourism, rather than mass tourism as a tool for sustainable tourism.
