The Inheritance collection

The city got a taste of the haute couture designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s exclusive collections at The Loft in Quest Mall. The two-day exhibition saw a vivacious collection of resort wear, bridal wear, party wear and jewellery by the ace designers’ labels that are favourite among the who’s-who of Bollywood.

The Inheritance Collection replete with the richness of chikankari in off-white caught our eyes as soon as we entered the venue. The collection was flaunted on the ramp recently by Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Karan Johar and Shweta Bachchan Nanda. The detailed chikankari work on the dupatta paired with broad golden zari exuded elegance.

The other ensemble that caught our eyes was Gulabo’s resort wear collection that was a hot-seller. The soft handloom cotton in off-white with linear gota work gave an oomph factor to the collection. It included maxi dresses, voluminous skirts, palazzos, shararas and kurtas.

The Guilded Collection

For those who love a dash of colour the diffusion line Asal by Abu Sandeep has vibrant silhouettes with mirror and zari work.

The western couture that was showcased for the first time in the city was edgy and dramatic. Sample a crop top with ruffled neck and long asymmetric sleeves plunging beyond your knees.

From the couture collection a stole in striking red from the Glided Rose collection, with sequence work clustered in roses, had our heart. Also, we couldn’t get our eyes off a choli or blouse in midnight blue with a shimmery layer of pearl hangings and polka jewellery embellishments.

The Needledust had some exquisite collection of jutis/mojris that could be paired seamlessly with ethnic wear. Talking about the collection Gia Sharan, business head said, “We thought Calcutta can touch, feel, enjoy. We have all our brands here so there is something for everyone and it’s our latest collection. You will see a lot of Kolkatans wearing the label.”
